Eclipse is skilled at developing
and fabricating thin film specialty coatings for
commercial use. Taking your thin film needs from
concept to production, Eclipse has a strong scientific
and technical staff dedicated to the high quality
products and customer satisfaction.
Eclipse
offers:
Thin Film Design: Capability
of supplying the commercial industry with the
research and development of new, specialty, or
unique film coatings. Eclipse has eight research
coaters capable of e-beam, ion-assisted, thermal,
and sputtering depositions. A variety of specialty
oxide and nitrate films can be created to specific
customer needs. Due to the geometry of Eclipse’s
coaters, curved or large substrates can be coated.
| Possible thin films include: |
| |
| High
Quality ITO on complex surfaces:
Using a novel process, low stress,
high quality ITO can be created.
Transmission (normal to the substrate)
can be as high as 94%. Sheet resistance
can be brought to under 50 ohms/sq.
All films are optimized for the
customers specific needs. |
| Precious metals such as Gold
(Au), Silver (Ag), and
Platinum (Pt) and their
required adhesion layers. |
| Commonly
deposited metals such as Aluminum
(Al), Nickel (Ni), and
Chromium (Cr). |
| Select nitrides (Contact
for specific needs) |
| Select oxides
(Contact for specific needs) |
| Any other coating able to
be deposited by e-beam, ion-assisted,
thermal, and sputtering depositions.
|
|
| Thin films can be deposited
commonly at room temperature. |
| Many specialty coatings
can be placed on curved surfaces. |
| Deposition of each customer’s
required specialty materials can be designed
especially for each substrate type to
meet the customer’s needs. |
| Common substrates include
plastics, glass, and silicon. |
Prototype Fabrication: Eclipse
excels at the fabrication of prototype films based
on customer recipes or developed by in-house scientists
and can help you with:
| taking a prototype from
required application or conceptualization
to fabricated film. |
| the expertise required to overcome
prototype to production issues with each
prototype film. |
| a limited assessment of prototype
films using in-house tools capable of
testing the film. |
Testing Facilities, Spectroscopy and
Thin Film Characterization: Eclipse has a
full range of thin film characterization equipment
capable of delivering accurate results for surface
topography and optical characterization.
| Scanning
Electron Microscope (SEM) |
| Thickness measurements |
| Transmission &
Reflection data collection from the 300
nm (UV) through the visible to 20 m (IR). |
| Ultra-Violet (UV)
sensitivity testing. |
| Humidity testing
and humidity controlled environments. |
| Vacuum testing with
vacuum ranges from 1x10-2 to 1x10-7. |
| Atomic Oxygen Testing |
| Potentiostat measurements |
Fabrication Design: Eclipse can
work with the customer to move the film from prototype
to limited rate production. This capacity encompasses:
| scientific
research required to conceptualize, develop,
fabricate prototype, through bringing
the film to production. |
| equipment design for all levels of
development from research to production. |
| equipment installation |
| cleanroom design |
| cleanroom fabrication |
| lab design |
Limited Scale Production: Eclipse
is capable of low rate thin film coatings production.
These materials can be developed in house or be
previously developed by the customer. We have
vacuum coaters with up to 216 cubic feet of vacuum
space (6ft cube) for the deposition of these films.
Plasma cleaning: An excellent cleaning/surface
prep process for parts, especially those sensitive
to solvents and other normal cleaning method,
by varying the O2/Ar mixture, the reactivity of
the plasma can be tightly controlled. Parts of
up to 8 inches wide and 2 ft long can be processed.
